Shaganappi Park is an unexpected surprise in a middle-aged urban community. A short reach of a nameless creek that once flowed down to the Bow River was spared from development and forms a spine in what would otherwise be an unremarkable city park in Southwest Calgary. Before the area was developed in the early 20th Century it was likely a small prairie stream, flowing in the spring and after summer storms. Now, it runs year round, fed by a storm drainage system the grew around it as the City expanded.
